Marriage.....it's what brings us.....together
I got tired of working on my website and decided to look up the wedding scene in Princess Bride, which is the best movie ever. (Do not dispute me on this, I'll take you down). So, whilst I was watching this fantastic scene, I notice the following video in the side bar. Enjoy.

Swingin.....
P$ played on the swing set today for the first time!! YAY! Before you gasp at the fact that I put a 6 month old on a swing, don't worry, she didn't fall out! And she had fun! :) Here's some great video of P$ thoroughly enjoying it and her buddy Ezekiel, well, just kind of, eh... :)
***DISCLAIMER: I know the videos are facing the wrong way, but my tech support is not currently available to fix this, so you'll have to do the old-fashioned head tilt.
P$ is also sporting a new hairstyle....

She's not bald anymore! HOORAY!

I love healthy sweets!!
I am so proud of myself. I have been doing this hcg diet for the past month and am during the last phase where I get back to eating normal foods. For the time being, I still can't have sugar or flour (basically no carbs at all). After a month of that, I'm getting a little bored and craving sweets soooo much! So I searched all over the internet for flourless sugarless vegan brownies. There was nothing out there with all the requirements I had so I just made up my own!! And they taste AMAZING! Even Steven liked them! Granted, these do have some carbs in them and aren't the healthiest thing around, considering that they are brownies makes it great!! See the recipe below:

Flourless Sugarfree Vegan Brownies
Ingredients
• 1 can black beans drained and rinsed (390 cal)
• ½ cup of splenda (48 cal)
• ¾ cup unsweetened carob powder (300 cal)
• ½ teaspoon baking powder (3 cal)
• ½ teaspoon salt (0 cal)
• ½ cup water (0 cal)
• ¼ cup vegetable oil (482 cal)
• 2 teaspoon vanilla extract (4 cal)
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
2. In a blender or food processor, mix until well blended. Spread evenly in a 8x8 inch baking pan.
3. Bake for 45-50 minutes in the preheated oven, until a toothpick comes out mostly clean. Let cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting into 9 squares.
Nutrition Facts
• Entire pan of brownies = 1,227 calories
• 1 brownie = 136.3 calories
***I'm still tweaking this recipe a bit because the brownies were a tiny bit gooey. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm definitely interested in trying different things!

Adventure at the Old LA Zoo
Today we went exploring at Griffith Park at the Old Los Angeles Zoo. It was built in 1912 and was evacuated in 1965. It was so much fun to explore all of the old animal cages. The 2 hours we spent there was just not enough, I can't wait to go back!! A couple of tips:
1. Wear tennis shoes!! OOPS!
2. If you have a baby who can't walk, put him/her in the backpack style carrier, not a stroller - especially if you want to explore the cages.
3. Park in the back of the parking lot that says "Old LA Zoo Picnic Tables" and walk up the hill to get to the "zoo".
4. There are picnic tables all over so you can make a whole day of it! (I'm pretty sure I would LOVE to have P$'s first bday party there!!)
5. Make sure you don't look like you're trying to film without a permit. We saw several people get kicked out because of that.
6. I made a map with a little blue guy to show you where the park is. It's really confusing and there aren't a lot of directions available:

Here's some awesome pictures of our adventure! (You might notice that one of the caves I'm peeking out of looks familiar! It's where parts of Anchorman was filmed!)

Ouch!
Wow, this was like getting my pride hit with a metal baseball bat. Talk about stomping on my toes! But such a good reminder of my humanity.

Happy Niki Day!!!
I wanted to post separately really quick about my incredible niece, Niki. Today is the anniversary of the day God gave her back to us - twice! I'm so incredibly grateful to be a part of her amazing story! Love you Niki!!!!
Half Birthday!!!!
I know, I've been MIA on this blog since January, but it's been CRAZY here!! P$ is 6 months old and beginning to eat solid foods:

She's a healthy little giant. At 19.5 lbs and 28" tall, she's in the 96th percentiles. The dr. said that just means we'll get lots of comments on our baby that appears to be about 9 months old! She's as cute as ever, sitting up on her own, babbling constantly and chewing on her fingers (no teeth yet, though).

Steven has been busy working (well, not these past two weeks, but usually). We had such a great time visiting family in Oklahoma last week!! I'm still in school - only 3 weeks left in the quarter!!!! Then I have a whole month off, whew! So far, I've been able to stay home and hang out with P$ while doing little side jobs here and there. If anyone needs some help with anything, shoot me an email! The job I'm most looking forward to is making Cake Balls and Cake Pops for a bachelorette party, pictures to follow for sure! This week my goal is to post some pictures of things I have made to sell. Spread the word!!

2011 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl (blog by Steven)
If you don't know already the University of Oklahoma is my favorite college since I attended for a year and a half. I consider myself a die hard OU football and basketball fan that lives on the west coast and can only view a few games a year. Once I heard that OU would be playing UCONN in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, AZ I had to figure out a way that I could go.
On Friday afternoon I heard Sara on the phone with Macy and when she got off the phone she said that Steve, Macy and Brooke (Macy's friend) were going to drive out to the Fiesta Bowl from Oklahoma. I thought there was no way they would make it since they were a good 20 hours away and the game was the next night. Once I confirmed this with Steve (Macy and Sara aren't always so reliable) over the phone I looked for tickets on Craigslist and the first post that popped up was for 4 tickets together. This Doctor had 4 seats 7 rows up from the field valued at $235 each and he sold them to us for $50 each! I asked Sara's Uncle Mike to pick them up since I was still in LA and the tickets were in the Phoenix area and he was gracious enough to do so. I left for Phoenix on Saturday morning and drove back to LA on Sunday morning. It was a lot of driving, but totally worth it! Here's some great pictures below....

Christmas 2010
MERRY CHRISTMAS (A little late)!!

We had such a great Christmas this year. We got to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with just us 3. Our little family. How weird is it that I just wrote those words? Many of you who read this know that I'm not normal or traditional (insert silly jokes that I just waltzed in here). I often see what is normal and deviate as much as possible from that. I always said I was NEVER going to have children. That I would NEVER stay home with a child all day. Now look at me, staying home (working from home, but you know), loving this baby more than anything else and loving the fact that we had a "normal" Christmas. Well....normal probably isn't the right word. Steven's office let him take home this a.m.a.z.i.n.g. camera for the Holiday season so we capitalized on that. We took about a million pictures of P-money (or Puke Master P as Steven has dubbed her). You can see those here. After we got bored of that, we decided to make a Godzilla like remake with Gingerbread. I know....not the usual "read the Christmas Story and open presents business." Here's the outcome of some of the best 4 hours of laughter with my best friend (while our baby happily slept in her swing!).
When Gingerbread Giants attack!
Since we were so productive on Christmas Eve, we decided to take it easy on Christmas Day. We woke up late and I made this awesome Vegan Breakfast Casserole (Thanks Ellen DeGeneres!)
YUM!

After that deliciousness, we had to go for a little walk to burn off the casserole and prepare for Christmas dinner together to the park. I love living in LA, it was a nice 60 degrees!!

Once we got back from the park, we made a HUGE Christmas dinner for just us (probably the last time I'll ever do that again, we wouldn't want to make a tradition of this business!):
YUM AGAIN!

I made an awesome Vegan Cheesecake (although it tasted more like Tapioca than Cheesecake, but still great!):

I also made this great Pumpkin Pie!!! Anyone can make this!

We didn't even open presents or have stockings together. We figured Christmas wasn't really supposed to be about that and we had way too much fun just hanging out together anyways, who needs presents, right? We spent much of the rest of the day trying to figure out how to get Peyton into this sling my sister got for me. We were successful, but it took several attempts. Thank goodness P is such a good sport and just let us spend an hour or so shoving her into this thing!! Result - Success!:
