Brazil Trip - Day 2

Day 2 – Sunday
Arrive in Rio
We got off the plane on Sunday morning after very little sleep, got our bags and zoomed right through customs with no problems. Sara, of course, was very calm throughout the whole process while Steven was a nervous wreck (sarcasm noted). As we were coming out of customs and immigration, we saw a cute little man with a sign with our name on it! It was like we were was famous!! Everyone should experience this wonderful moment! So off we went to our apartment on Copacabana Beach to dump our luggage, freshen up and begin exploring. Here are some pictures of the place we stayed:

The underground parking situation was quite interesting….

We took this picture so we could show it to cab drivers when trying to get back to our place. Clever, eh!

Here’s our apartment (please make sure younger viewers look away, the pictures on the wall were not our choice….):

We spent most of the day Sunday roaming around Copacabana Beach and Ipanema Beach.

Here is Steven waiting on our first meal in Rio. (We had pizza and it was yummy!)

Sara and Lynette trying to figure out where to go next while Steven pretends to be involved but is really suffering from severe jetlag.

Here we are at Ipanema Beach.

Ocean views of Ipanema Beach.

Sandcastle at Copacabana Beach. (This was less than a block from our apartment!)

We went to the weekly Hippie Fair to look at all the goodies. It was somewhat depressing since none of us had any Brazilian money so it was a window shopping kind of day. Luckily on our way back home, the market took Visa so we picked up some groceries for dinner and breakfast the next morning. While at the market, Sara met this nice American woman who had lived in Brazil for the past four years and helped us navigate what kind of meat and cheese to buy for sandwiches. Thank God for her, we would have ended up with all kinds of weird stuff!

After getting home, we were magically able to have access to the Lakers/Celtics game! How wonderful (for Jeremy and Steven at least)! We all went to bed pretty early that night and slept like babies (except for Lynnette and Sara who were up every few hours to pee, but what’s new).
